Summary
This study conducted a retrospective analysis of 10-year prosthetic outcomes for 137 patients with completely edentulous maxillae who received a total of 750 dental implants. The incidence of mucositis, peri-implantitis with bone resorption at 1/3 and 1/2 the implant length, and the need for implant removal were assessed. Patients were divided into groups based on the type of prosthetics (fixed, removable, or partially removable) and the number of supporting implants.
The condition of the supporting implants and the presence of complications were assessed after 1 year, 3 years, 5 years, and 10 years.
A correlation was found between the incidence of complications and the number of supporting implants and the type of prosthetics. The analysis revealed that maximum stability is achieved with fixed structures on 8–10 implants, while limiting the number of supporting elements significantly increases the risk of complications and reduces the likelihood of long-term implant retention.
These results highlight the need for careful planning of the number of implants during the pre-treatment phase, taking into account not only economic and technical aspects, but also biomechanical feasibility to ensure long-term clinical success.

Keywords: complete edentia, dental implantation, mucositis, periimplantitis, fixed prosthetics, removable prosthetics, biomechanical stability.
