Summary
The article presents an overview of the use of photodynamic therapy in modern dentistry based on the literature sources. Various types of photosensitizers are presented, the action of which has a good effect on the course of the process in periodontal pockets.
The conclusion is made about the vantages of using this method in the treatment of inflammatory periodontal diseases, as well as the effect of photodynamic therapy on the periodontal microbiota, which has a positive effect on the treatment of patients.

Keywords: photodynamic therapy, periodontitis, photosensitizers.
