Summary
The aim of the study was to conduct a comparative assessment of blood pH and basic parameters of coagulogram in patients with phlegmons of the maxillofacial region and neck.
In the course of the study, we retrospectively analyzed 100 case histories of patients aged 18 to 65 years who were hospitalized for phlegmon of the maxillofacial region and neck with the spread of purulent-inflammatory process to 4 and more cellular-fascial spaces.
The values of acid-base state of blood (pH) and standard coagulogram parameters (prothrombin, prothrombin time (PT), international normalized ratio (INR), fibrinogen) of venous blood taken from the peripheral vein in patients in the first hours of admission to the hospital were analyzed. According to the data obtained in the course of the study, the correlation of blood pH disorders in relation to changes in the parameters of the coagulation system approached zero or was weakly positive. The coagulogram and platelet count indirectly reflected the presence of a condition corresponding to sepsis-induced coagulopathy in patients.

Keywords: phlegmon of the maxillofacial area, sepsis-induced coagulopathy (SIC), blood рН, coagulogram.
